TODA RACING製2.35Lエンジンが届きました。ベースはAP2純正エンジンで、ASM1号車エンジンと共通のパーツを採用しつつ、最新のヘッドチューンを施した最新仕様。その結果、1号車がエンジンベンチで記録した291馬力を大きく超えて、303馬力を記録しました。この数字はASM筑波スペシャル2004の305馬力に迫るものです。もちろんTODA RACING製ですから、ただ単なる数字狙いではなく、乗りやすいトルク特性と壊れない信頼性を重視した上で、結果的に記録した数字を性能の目安のひとつとして紹介していることをご理解下さい。
その信頼性を確かなものにするために、ASMでは搭載するエンジンを事前にラッピング（エンジンベンチ上での慣らし運転）することにしています。もちろんこのエンジンもラッピング済みのため、不確かな慣らし運転をする必要がありません。さらに、ベンチテスト時のデータを基にしてG.T WORKS GENROMに手を加えて合わせ込みを行う予定です。1/23-24のイベント時に作業しますから、エンジンはそれまでに搭載してチェック走行を済ませないといけません。
昨日から3号車オーナーの木村さんが四国からMINIに乗って遊びに来ていたのですが、今回このエンジンをご購入いただくことになりました。1号車にTODA RACING製2.2Lエンジンを搭載して街乗りやスポーツ走行すると、スペック上での違い以上に日本トップクラスのエンジンコンストラクターの凄みみたいなものを感じることができましたが、2.35Lと言う更なる排気量アップがどれほどの速さとフィーリングをもたらしてくれるのか、とても楽しみです。
The TODA RACING 2.35L engine has arrived today. The base engine is AP2 genuine engine and using the same parts with the ASM car no.1 engine, with the latest head tune. The result is with car no.1 engine on the engine bench it marked 291bhp but with this engine it marked 303bhp. This is almost the same as the Tsukuba Special 2004. Its build by TODA RACING not only with the number but easy toque use and reliability. So this is just a no. of the performances and its just an example.
To make sure the reliability is accurate, at ASM whatever new engine we install. We run the engine on the bench for running it in. Even with this engine there is no need for running it in and can rev all the way up from the beginning. Based on the data we have from the bench test, we will re-do the G.T WORKS GENROM on the car to match the engine. We will be having a event on the 23rd and 24th. So we have to finish the car by then.
Since yesterday the owner of car no.3 Kimura-san has come for a visit from Shikoku with his MINI and he purchased this engine. When we first installed the 2.2L engine on to car no.1 and used it on the street and for sports use, I felt that it was more then the spec says and was really surprised with the Japanese top class engine constructor could do. With the higher 2.35L engine I am looking forward with the speed and feeling with the car.
