今書店で販売中のオートファッションimp 7月号でボクの赤いMINIのことが紹介されています。特集のテーマは自動車のインテリア、他に掲載された車たちを見ると、ダッシュボード、ドアパネル、ピラーやルーフまで張り替えた派手な車がズラリ並んでいます。一方ボクのMINIと言えば、レカロシートを左右セットで装着しているのとフロアマットがKARO製に変わっているぐらいで何の変わり映えもしないインテリアなのですが・・・。
ただ、「シートはサスペンションの一部なんですよ」と言う切り口で誌面が展開されていたのはASMの記事だけでした。実際にMINIにも今使っているMAGNIFICA、同じ基本骨格を採用したSP-JCベースの電動本革モデル、カーボンシェルのSP-X CL100、IS84ストラクチャーを採用したERGOMED-LD、MINIに定番で人気のSPORTSTER LL100など色々なレカロシートを装着してきましたが、シートによってサスペンションの印象が大きく変わることに驚きました。だから、ボクにとってシートはサスペンションの一部であり、ただのインテリアパーツではないのですが、さらっと話してもライターさんにその気持ちはなかなか伝わりません。
この時の取材でも、シートの話に行く前にダンパー・スプリング・タイヤ・サスペンションアームなどの話があった上で、基本骨格に加えてウレタンの形状や硬さを含めたシート選択について時間をかけて説明しました。いつもASMに来てくれている常連の皆さんなら理解してくれる内容でも、誌面の中で「はじめまして」と言う読者の方に分かりづらい内容になると意味がありません。幸いライターさんがラリーの分野が得意なサスペンションに詳しい方だったこともあり、よく理解して記事を書いていただけたなぁと感謝しています。編集部の皆さん、ありがとうございました。
This car magazine which is out on the store now called the Auto Fashion imp July’s issue has my red MINI in it. mostly about the interior, comparing with those other car in it which they have redone the dash bored, door panels, pillar and even the roof but my MINI has just RECARO seats on both sides and KARO floor mats nothing special.
But only our ASM article said that seats are part of suspensions. The actual seat I am using on my MINI which is the RECARO MAGNIFICA are using the same base frame of a SP-JC lather, the carbon shell SP-X CL100. ERGOMED –LD, SPORTSTER LL100 using the IS84 structure which is also popular with MINI. I have installed all of the above on my MINI and depending on the seat, the feeling of the damper changes largely. So for me seats are part of the suspensions and not only part of a interior. If I explain to the writer easily its difficult to explain.
Even when I had the interview before explaining about the seats, I have explained about the dampers, springs, tires, suspension arm then about the frame of the seats and the urethane shape and stiffness of it. I took as much time possible explaining to them. For those regular customers who comes to ASM will might understand but it’s a bit difficult to explain in words. And would be meaning less if the readers does not understand. Luckily the writer was strong with rally’s and dampers which understood me very well and manage to write it in the article properly. Thank you.
