大切なのは決断力とタイミング

早朝から仕事関係で、MINIに乗って首都高湾岸線を行ったり来たりしていました。ASM SRE 3WAY＋POTENZA RE-11を組み合わせた赤いMINIは、連続する高速コーナーを走るのがとても快適で楽しい車です。現在、HYPERCOのレートを標準のF:6.3kg/mm・R:5.4kg/mmからF:4.9kg/mm・R:4.0kg/mmに落とした状態でテストしています。結論から言うとどちらのセットでもそれぞれ良さがあり、オーナーさんが何を重視するかでレート選択をすれば良いだけで、劇的に悪くなると言う要素は見当たらないように思えました。僕の場合は高めのバネレートの方が用途や好みに合いそうな気がします。
3月、ASM SREダンパーキット3WAYを2セット装着することになりました。1台はR52 Cooper S コンバーチブルです。走行距離なりに各部が弱くなっているため、柔らかいスプリングレートを選択していただきました。同時装着で専用強化アッパーマウント、TOYO PROXES T1R、ASM調整式リヤスタビライザー、ASMラジエタータンク、ASMパワステタンク、ASMビッグスロットルIS-09、ZONEブレーキパッドなどを同時装着します。もう1台はR57 MINI JCWに装着します。ASM SREダンパーキットと現行型MINIのマッチングは、僕自身の赤いMINIが安っぽく感じるほどハイレベルなので、JCWとの組み合わせとなれば完璧でしょう。
この2人のオーナーさんは、ASM SREダンパーキット3WAYの受注開始時に、本当に少ない情報の中で思い切って購入を決断されました。126万円と言う高額な製品ですが、比較する対象が一般的なチューニングパーツではなく世界トップクラスのレーシングパーツだと言う評価軸を理解していれば、中身を知らずに高いとか安いとか言う評価そのものがナンセンスであることは明白です。一括オーダーした後はもう再販しない製品ですから、欲しくて買えるお客様であればお薦めしますし、欲しくないお客様であれば他にもいい製品はたくさんありますのでそれらをお薦めしていました。
そして大切なのはタイミングです。どんなに良いモノであっても、手に入れることができなければそれは絵に描いた餅です。注文を締め切った後、2人のお客様からお問い合わせをいただきましたが、残念ながらオーダーをお断りさせていただきました。欲しくなればいつでも購入できるモノとそうでないモノが存在していますが、ASM SREダンパーキットは飛び切りの後者です。徹底して性能を追求する製造メーカー、その性能を理解して使い方を提案できる力と高額な仕入コストを調達する資金力がある販売店、モノが持つ価値を正しく理解して楽しむことができるユーザー、この3つの歯車がギリギリ噛み合って8台と言う数が集まったからこそ実現できた企画であり、そのタイミングで決断できた人だけのプレミアムがいっぱい詰まった製品です。ラスト1セットを四国の木村さんのJCW GPに装着すれば完売です。
■ASM SRE Damper Kit 3WAY for MINI 1,260,000円（R53・R56・R55・R57対応） ＊完売しました。
From the early morning, because of work I was going up and down the Wangan highway with my MINI. The red MINI which has the ASM SRE 3WAY damper kit＋POTENZA RE-11 makes it very comfortable and fun to drive on a continues high speed corners. The standard spring rate is F: 6.3kg/mm R5.4kg/mm and I am doing the test dropping the spring rate to a HYPERCO F:4.9kg/mm R4.0kg/mm. Bottom line both has its good side. Depending on what the owner wants to do with the car, you can always change the spring rate. I don’t really see any bad elements with this. for my case it suits me more with a higher spring rate with how I use the car.
In March, we will be installing two sets of ASM SRE Damper kit 3WAY. One will be on a R52 Cooper S convertible. With the mileage that the car has the car is a bit weak in certain parts. So I suggested installing a softer spring rate. In the same time, installing a special enhance upper mount, TOYO PROXES T1R, ASM adjustable rear stabilizer, ASM radiator tank, ASM power steering tank, ASM big throttle IS-09, ZONE brake pad. Another car will be an R57 MINI JCW. The combination of the ASM SRE damper kit and the current MINI, the matching is perfect. It makes my red MINI feel on a lower level.
These two owners ordered the ASM SRE Damper Kit 3WAY when we started placing orders for it. Even though there wasn’t much info about the dampers with the price tag of 1,260,000YEN with nothing could be compared to with any other after market parts. But they know about it because its one of the top classes racing parts and its bit nonsense to say if the damper is cheap or expensive. After we place a certain amount of orders will be the first and the last. We have no plans of selling it again in the future. If a customer wants it and can afford it I will recommend it, if you don’t there are many other dampers which are good enough.
Other thing important is timing. No matter how good that item could be, if you can’t get it it’s just a picture in a painting. After we closed the orders, we had two more customers who wanted to place an order but unfortunately I had to reject them. There are things in the world that if you want it, you can get it any time but this damper isn’t. You would need to have a production maker which produces and pursuits for the ultimate performance, a shop that understands that performance, power to introduce that product and financial power to have it in stock. And a user who will understand its value and enjoy it in a proper way. You will need to have these three elements make this happen. Luckily for us we manage to have eight people come in to place an order in total and start producing the item. Its s premium item for those owners who could make the decision on that timing. The last set will go to Kimura-san at Shikoku with his JCW GP.
